TARBAT NESS: This lighthouse equipped headland 4 miles east of Portmahomack can, with NE winds, produce a variety of migrants apart from Skua and other seabird passage.

INVER: A village 6 miles west of Portmahomack overlooks a tidal estuary known for waders and wildfowl - best at low to mid-tide.

LOCH EYE: A 1.5 mile long freshwater loch 8 miles from Portmahomack with rather difficult viewing but duck and waders possible.

TARLOGIE & EDDERTON BAYS: Lying NW of Tain on the Dornoch Firth and noted for autumn concentrations of duck.

LOCH FLEET: Some 10 miles north of the Dornoch Firth, a tidal basin and estuary with various viewing points, and also including Balblair Wood an SWT reserve hopefully meaning species variety. Nearby a visit to EMBO PIER could produce grebes and divers.

BLACK ISLE: On the north shore UDALE BAY and RSPB reserve with a hide in a wader area and on the south shore we will check out CHANONRY POINT, noted under east winds for its Skua passage and also for Dolphin sightings.
